STATEN ISLAND/CONNECTICUT/PENNSYLVANIA

That night we stopped in Staten Island to visit my family. My sister Noreen had just returned from Puerto Rico and we seized to take some photos all together on the stoop. That's where our first long leg of the journey began. But, keeping with the Slevin tradition, we had to stop and get cheap gas in Elizabeth, N.J. Dave wasn't sure if he should use his Amoco card since he hadn't gotten a bill in over two years. We let The Dude out of his cage for the first time so he could lounge in the back window on a towel. He craned his neck to take in the industrial scenery on the Turnpike and some fellow travelers did double takes and pointed as we headed towards Pennsylvania. We took a slight detour because we noticed we were near Carlisle, Penn. where Ginge had gone to college. We drove around the town for a while before we actually found the school. We were looking for a sign to take a photo in front of just to prove we were there but had to settle for the football field.VIRGINIA
